Férias Frustradas do Pica-Pau (roughly translates to Woody Woodpecker's Frustrated Vacations in English) is a 1996 platform game developed and published by Tectoy for the Sega Mega Drive and the Sega Master System. The game was only made available for the Brazilian market. The title and some of the game art makes references to the Brazilian release of 1983 Warner Bros. film National Lampoon's Vacation under the name Frustrated Vacations.

Story[]

At the start of the game, Woody and his friends on a road trip. When Woody takes a photo of his friends, a flash suddenly makes them disappear. A letter falls. It reads that Buzz Buzzard (known as Zeca Urubu in the game) has kidnapped Woody's friends and the first to go is Andy Panda. Woody has to save them.

Gameplay[]

The game is a running/jumping side-scroller (ala Super Mario Bros), where Woody must collect money bags and defeat enemies. Attacks include throwing acorns.

Aiding Woody Woodpecker in the Mega Drive version is a rocket pack which makes the player travel faster and a horn to wake Wally Walrus.

Trivia[]

  • The title screen and introduction music for both the Mega Drive and the Master System versions is an instrumental of "The Woody Woodpecker Song".
  • This game was also the only appearance of Andy Panda and Gabby Gator in a video game.
  • This game also marks the first video game appearance of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in a cameo role and also Oswald's final appearance in Walter Lantz's design.
